I loved the song before I really paid attention to the words. This video was especially awesome because the song lyrics appear on the bottom of the screen, and act to highlight the images and information in the song.
Aside from the awesome campaign video below, I was also impressed with the following interview Ron Paul had with NORML...
As unusual as it is to have a republican speak out for legalizing marijuana, Dr. Paul makes a very compelling argument that the Federal Government has no business telling you what drugs you can and cannot take. These are the sorts of values that I don't see anymore, and are traditionally republican. The Federal Government should leave citizens alone and give them the freedom to make their own decisions for themselves.
<I am aware that these videos show giant pot leaves. I'm not endorsing illegal drug use, but I do believe in the underlying message. The message is about freedom plain and simple and who doesn't love that?> - ob
I found this video online last night and it really spoke to me. I always considered myself a Democrat, but I've been giving serious thought to voting for Ron Paul. I find his ideas refreshingly different from the mainstream, and I like his return to the old values our country was founded on. My main question about voting for him is the ever present "elect ability" issue. I believe that if more people had been able to hear his message and consider him they might have been surprised by what they saw, but he was written off by the mainstream media and virtually ignored.
Interestingly he has been in the news because his book "The Revolution" just topped the New York Times Bestseller list.
Anyway, at the very least, the commercial has some pretty awesome CGI so it's worth a watch.
I have never been someone who is very motivated to do housework. Not to say that I don't do it, I do, but it's usually begrudgingly after I've let them get out of control. One of the most recent reasons why I'm not motivated to do housework is because it's a lot more fun to play video games! I used to neglect my chores (and sometimes basic hygiene, ugh) to level up a little bit in World of Warcraft.
Now I find myself neglecting chores to gain experience in Final Fantasy X.
Basically it seems that my motivation to do chores is undermined by my motivation to gain experience points. Well thanks to this grand age of technology we live in, the two have been combined in Chore Wars!
This awesome new site lets you create a character and go off on great adventures to slay evil garbage monsters, or conquer the mighty mountain of dirty dishes! You can design different adventures based on the housework that needs to get done. Once you complete the adventure your character is awarded XP and Gold!
Just this weekend my character earned 121XP and 121 Gold for washing dishes, making breakfast, cleaning the coffee table, making dinner, and helping to do the laundry!
This system works well in my and any house where you want to both motivate people to do chores and also to keep track of who does more of the housework, especially if the house contains gamers as obsessed with RPGs as me.
Audio: Share a song with powerful lyrics.
The first track off of Muse's Black Holes and Revelations has some of the most powerful lyrics I have heard in a long time. This video takes it to another level, but the song on it's own is very timely and meaningful.
As you may or may not know, this year, December 4 is not only the beginning of חנוכה but it is also National Dice Day
Among the multitude of uses for dice, the one that requires the most, and most varied types is the brainchild of Mr. Gary Gygax; Dungeons & Dragons.
The fine people over at Wizards of the Coast, producers of all things Dungeons & Dragons had this to say about dice
"Dice have been around for more than 5000 years and have been part of the popular roleplaying game, D&D since its inception more than 30 years ago (though current gamers likely use dice made from plastics rather than oxen ankle bones like early forms of dice)."
eeewwww... oxen ankle bones... well I'm glad that all of my adventures required less contact with bovine metacarpi and more with my +35 Girdle of Frost Giant's Strength.
Even those of you who are not as transported by tabletop RPG's should appreciate the important roll dice have played in our history...
They helped us win our independence from those Imperialistic Dominoes! (thanks to the genius of The Perry Bible Fellowship)
Beyond being the fundamental component to moving pieces on a game board and to determining if you sucessfully avoid traps and poisons, dice are a very powerful and universal metaphor for fate, randomness, and chance. Some important historical figures have had a lot to say with regards to dice...
Iacta alea est. - The die is cast.
Julius Caesar crossing the Rubicon
The dice of Zeus fall ever luckily.
Sophocles
I cannot believe God plays dice with the universe.
Albert Einstein
Not only does God play dice with the universe, He's using loaded dice.
John Ford
Not only does God play dice, He throws them where we cannot see them.
Steven Hawkings
We figured the odds as best we could, and then we rolled the dice.
Jimmy Carter
Today is the day for us all take a moment to appreciate all that dice have given us... from the measly 3-sided die to the ubiquitous 6-sided die and the ever popular 20-sided die. How else could we decide how many spaces to move in the game of life (note: the actual Game of LIFE uses a spinner... LAME!).
So roll those dice, play a game, enter an amazing fantasy realm, or loose all your money to some shifty guys in a back alley, whatever you do, remember how dice helped you get there.
I was reading the archives of The Perry Bible Fellowship, and hilarious and absurd comic and came across this gem...
One of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving is sitting down on Friday afternoon, enjoying some leftover turkey sandwiches, and watching college football. Normally I don't really follow college football, but I usually make time over Thanksgiving.
One of the coolest difference between college and pro football is that there is a battle of the marching bands during halftime. The coolest part of these shows is the formation marching and playing.
Sometimes the bands will spell out things, or make their school crest, but the UC Berkeley marching band really took it to another level for the below game
Watch closely during the Pokemon part to see a band member dressed as Pikachu. He's everywhere these days.
It's dedication time. What song are you sending out, and who is it dedicated to?

This one goes out to my newest MySpace friend, Monkey! This song goes out to you buddy... keep on practicing those DDR moves my little Thai friend, and stop stealing my freaking Ice Cream.
Show us a book that scared you as a child.
This book TERRIFIED me when I was a child. It was one of the earliest books I read on my own, and definitely the scariest.
One story in particular, "The Green Ribbon" gave me nightmares for weeks. In this story a girl lives her whole life wearing a green ribbon around her neck and refuses to take it off for anyone or tell them why she wears it. She gets married and refuses to tell her husband about it. He keeps asking her and asking her, and finally, as she's on her death bed, she tells him to take it off.... and her FREAKING HEAD FALLS OFF!
The story really scared me, but more than that was the illustrations from it. The woman and the old man are really scary looking by the end of the story, especially when the woman's head is on the floor and the old man is standing there in shock holding the ribbon.
